STAAR Assessment Information
Hey students, let’s get ready to ROCK the STAAR assessments.  Make sure you do the following;

*Get a good night’s rest
*Eat a healthy breakfast
*Get to school on time
*Bring a jacket and two number 2 pencils

NJHS Permission Slips/Checks Due

Attention NJHS Members-

The permission slip and check for the NJHS Field Trip must be turned in by the end of the school day on Thursday, April 24. Checks or permission slips turned in after 4:00 p.m. will not be accepted.
AHS Colorguard Tryouts
Are you interested in participating in AHS Colorguard next school year?
The Colorguard Tryouts are coming soon.

Location:  AHS Band Hall
Time:  4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (April 21, 22)

Current 8th Grade Students

Are you interested in participating in the student athletic training program at the high school?  Stop by the front office and pick up an application form and turn it into the front office when the form is completed.
New athletic training students will be working spring football practice starting April 29, so get your application turned in today!

Current 7th Grade Students & Parents
Representatives from Aledo Middle School will meet with all seventh grade students on Tuesday, April 29 during the school day to discuss registration for next school year. Students will receive a course registration packet.

An informational parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the AMS Bearcat Den. Parents, please bring the student course registration packet with you to the meeting.

Course registration forms are due Thursday, May 8 to the Social Studies teacher.

Summer School Options for Acceleration

On Tuesday, April 29, there will be a MANDATORY parent information meeting from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. regarding summer school offerings for acceleration.  The meeting will be held in the Lecture Hall at Daniel Ninth Grade Campus.  Current students in grades 8-12 will be allowed to enroll.  Courses will be offered through the Texas Virtual School Network and Texas Tech ISD.  There is a cost associated with these courses and varies from each provider.  Aledo ISD will offer Speech and Health, however other course offerings are being discussed and approved.  More information will be available at the meeting.

UIL Competition-AMS Symphonic Winds

The AMS Symphonic Winds Band participated in the Region 7 UIL Band Concert and Sight-Reading Competition on April 9.  The competition was held at Burleson Centennial High School.

Our band received straight "1s" at the competition.

Commissioner Approves Waivers for Four Missed Days of School

Aledo ISD experienced an unusually high number of school cancellations due to weather issues this year. According to the adopted school calendar, two of the makeup days will occur on Friday, April 18, and Monday, May 26. 

The district requested waivers from the Texas Education Agency for the remaining number of missed days. The commissioner approved the request, so the remaining four days missed will not have to be made up. The last day of school is Thursday, June 5.

Bring Your Own Device to School (BYOD)
Aledo Independent School District is committed to moving students and staff forward in a digitally-rich learning environment. As part of this vision, AISD is now allowing students to access our wireless network using their own technology tools; laptops, Smart Phones, iPads, etc. However, students must adhere to the guidelines listed on the user agreement as well as the Student Code of Conduct, the Internet Safety Policy, and the Acceptable Use Policy. With teacher approval, students may use their own devices in the classroom to access and save information from the Internet, communicate with other learners, and use the productivity tools that may be currently loaded on their device.

All students/parents must sign the BYOD Responsible User Agreement. The User Agreement will need to be turned in to the student's second period teacher.

AMS Athletic Uniforms Online Store
The AMS Athletic Uniform Online Store is now open; Parents will be able to order uniforms for the school year. Orders must be entered in the system by May 18, 2014 in order to receive your order before the end of the 13/14 school year.

Parents will also be able to order uniforms during the summer months.
Summer processing dates-deadline dates for order periods (where orders are sent to homes – shipping charge will be $10.00):

Sunday, June 1 – orders are processed Monday, June 2
Sunday, June 15 – orders are processed Monday, June 16
Sunday, June 29 – orders are processed Monday, June 30
Sunday, July 13 – orders are processed Monday, July 14
Sunday, July 27 – orders are processed Monday, July 28
Sunday, August 10 – orders are processed Monday, August 11

Orders processed on Sunday, August 24 (processed on Monday, August 25) will be shipped to the school, taking the shipping charge back down to $5.00.
